This test is designed for high school students to examine academic knowledge and college readiness. The ACT is used widely in college admissions and also for various scholarship opportunities. The cost of the exam is $69 without the writing portion ($94 with the writing portion) and is nonrefundable. Students in 11th or 12th grade can potentially qualify for up to two fee waivers to eliminate the cost of the exam. Please see your school counselor if you would like explore the option of receiving a fee waiver. All juniors will have the opportunity to take the exam for FREE paid for by the Kansas State Department of Education on February 25, 2025.

The SAT is a college entrance exam developed by College Board. Four-year universities in the mid-west will accept the SAT for college admissions, but do not require it if a student has taken the ACT. Highly selective institutions and 4-year universities on the East and West coasts place a greater emphasis on the SAT. The cost of the exam is $55.
