All students in grades 7 through 12 who participate in a KSHSAA-sanctioned activity and/or sport will be included in the eligible pool for random drug testing, as administered by an independent testing facility. Participation in this program is mandatory for students involved in these activities. Students who choose to opt out of the drug testing program will be ineligible to participate in KSHSAA activities and/or sports.
Students who are not involved in KSHSAA activities or sports are not required to participate in the Random Drug Testing program. However, parents or guardians may choose to voluntarily enroll their student(s) in the testing pool by submitting a request to the school administration.

USD 320 would like to partner with parents and work collaboratively in establishing a “Helping Policy” assisting students and parents in identifying the use of illegal substances.

Whenever a student’s test result indicates the presence of an illegal drug, the provision set forth will apply:
A student or parent/guardian may self-report drug usage at any time prior to selection in the random pool is allowed for compliance. The student may avoid eligibility consequences of the first violation by self-reporting as specified below. Self-reporting may only be used prior to a first violation. A subsequent positive test result will count as a second positive test.
